Overview
The Partner Platform is a web application allowing TuGo partners to manage their account and access tools to better serve their customers. The project involved a revamp of the current interface with some added features including a dashboard showing stats and a sales summary. To go along with the redesign, a landing page and sign up email was created.
I worked primarily on the UI and visual design of the application and worked closely with the development team, UX designer and platforms manager over the course of the project.
The Challenge
A revamp was needed to enhance features including reporting and add an integration with our Learning Centre. The look and feel would also need to be reworked to be more consistent with other web applications including Compass.

Research and Insights
To get insight into what specific improvements should be made for our partner applications, I joined my team in conducting user interviews with Partners onsite. It was a great way to get firsthand knowledge of pain points and frustrations they had when using the current application.
Findings include:
- Some found it difficult to use the Download Centre. Most documents are buried behind multiple clicks.
- Having a visual dashboard with graphics would be helpful
- Simplicity is important since the application would be used by Partners nationwide
The Solution
In addition to mockups, a style guide was created to capture the look and feel of common elements throughout the application including a colour palette, page headers and buttons.
Style Guide
Landing Page
A landing page was created to describe the benefits of becoming a TuGo partner. Existing partners are able to log in at the top.
Sign Up Email
Once Partners sign up, they will receive an email to start the account activation process.
Dashboard
After login, the dashboard will be displayed, showing quick stats including total sales and policies sold. The navigation on the left hand side is consistent throughout the application and can be expanded on hover.
Reports
Partners can access reports showing a detailed breakdown of sales, commissions and analytics.
Learning Centre
The Learning Centre is a new integration which provides Partners information on how to sell insurance with TuGo.
Download Centre
One of the original pain points was the Download Centre. Partners thought it took too many clicks to find documents. To make it more user friendly, we added sorting and a dynamic search function to make it easier for Partners to find what they need.
Learnings and takeaways
Working on the Compass application was a great segue into the Partner Platform. It allowed me to apply the learnings and create a consistent user experience across all our web applications. Interviewing Partners firsthand also helped in validating our discoveries and creating a customized experience for Partners. Working on this project has demonstrated the value of user research, especially early on in the design process.
